Intending to Love My Body~ Cycle Conclusion*

August 14th, 2010

I feel good.

Happy.

Peaceful.

Healthy.

From the New Moon last month (July 11, 2010) until the New Moon this month (August 9, 2010) I had intended to focus on my body.  To quote…well… Me…

My official intention is: I want to realize the beauty and perfection that is my body so I may love and respect it in kind*

The habits I intend to practice daily for this month are~

  • Get up at the same time every day
  • Walk
  • Look good 2 feel good
  • Take my supplements
  • Eat well & with intention/purpose
  • Drink 8 glasses of water
  • No more than 2 cups of coffee
  • Be aware of my posture and the general state of my body

Boy did THAT intention come to pass.  I didn’t get a chance to practice all the daily habits that I’d intended to, but I’m going to go ahead and give my self a free pass on what I missed.

I didn’t get up at the same time every day.  I was up days at a time, ill.  Free pass.

I didn’t walk every day.  See above explanation.  Free pass.

I DID “look good to feel good.”  Not every single day… but each of the days I was capable of getting out of bed!

I didn’t take my supplements every single day, but I did manage it most days and I learned that I have a magnesium deficiency and have taken steps to correct it :)

I think I did really well eating well and with intention and purpose.  I would have to say that this past month I was definitely more aware of what was going into my mouth.

I must confess that I haven’t been counting the glasses of water I’ve been drinking.  I have, however, purposely increased the amount of water I consume and I believe I’ve met or exceeded my intended.  Had a lot of sorbitol in my system to flush out.

The coffee is a funny one.  I really wanted to cut WAY back on the amount of coffee I was drinking.  I had actually reached a place where I sort of wanted to quit drinking it altogether.  The thing is, I LIKE drinking coffee.  That’s why I decided to just cut back to no more than 2 cups a day.  I’m a believer in realistic goals.  You can always set a new goal once you reach a realistic goal.  Well!  I quit drinking coffee.  Mike suggested it might be irritating my stomach before we knew about the sorbitol, and I had agreed and began drinking tea.  I had a craving for a cup of coffee about 4 days ago, but I didn’t even drink half of it.  It just didn’t taste good to me and I happily poured it in the sink and brewed a cup of tea :)

I have been taking notice of my posture a lot more.  I try to sit and stand up tall and straight.  And as far as being aware of the general state of my body… yeah… I think I’m covered.  LOL

I lost 13 pounds total from my sorbitol ordeal, but I’m actually happy to report than I’ve gained back 5.  My official goal weight is 8 pounds less than my current weight… so it feels a little weird to be happy about weight gain, but it really feels like a sign of health and recovery.  My appetite has returned full scale, but I’ve been eating mostly fruits, veggies and nuts, so I’m sure my body is just finding it’s balance again.

I’ve also started riding my bike with one dog in the morning and then again with the other dog in the evening.  The exercise feels really good.

Overall… I would have to admit that I absolutely feel better in and about my body after this past month’s intention.  It was one hell of a ride, but I would have to count this cycle as a complete success :)

As I write this, it’s 10:30pm… so my official intention(s) for this next cycle will have to wait until tomorrow to be written.  See you there~

Parenting Conscious Creators

July 10th, 2010

I love talking to my kids about magic and conscious creation.  They’re such fantastic students.  Kids don’t have all their beliefs figured out yet, so this stuff comes rather naturally to them.

Today our heatwave ended.  About 3am a beautiful thunderstorm rolled into the area bringing much temperature relief.  It proceeded to rain all morning and all day.  I can’t wait to see the effect on my garden!

I had today(Friday) scheduled as our grocery day because I completely missed the boat yesterday.  About noon as we were sitting down to lunch, Eddie says, “I don’t think we should go to the store today, Mom.  If we do, we’re going to get completely soaked!”

Seeing an immediate teaching opportunity, I replied, “We’ll get completely soaked if we’re focusing on it like that!  We need to talk about what we want to create, not what we don’t want.  Can you say it again, only this time say what you want to happen.”

“I want it to stop raining”

“Well, that’s better, but you’re still missing it a little.  Raining is what you have, and what you don’t want, right?  So if raining is what you DON’T want to see, what is it that you DO want to see?”

“Not raining.” (sigh… 8…)

“Okay!  How about this!  We create with our thoughts and words, right?”

“Yeah!”

“So show me how you can create *Not*.  You can create rain.  You can create DRY.  You can create SUN.  How do you CREATE not rain?”

(Dawning recognition with eyes lighting up)

“OOOoooohhhhhh!  I get it Mom!  *Not something*’s opposite is always something else!  I can’t make a NOT so I have to find the thing that the not stands for!” (I had to write that one down as soon as he said it so the quote would be accurate. LOL)

*Hug*  “You’re a smart cookie, Kid”

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

So, now we have to make a statement about what it is we actually want to see.  We collectively decided that we wanted the rain to clear and the weather to dry out long enough for us to go to the store and back so we could remain warm and dry.  That was our official intention.

We were about 5 minutes from leaving the house when the rain stopped.  This was about 2 hours after our original intention.  Eddie comes in from the porch grinning.  I see him coming and think that he must be about to tell me that our intention is happening because the rain’s stopped.

Nope.  He says, “HA!  Weather man said rain ALL DAY and it stopped.  He was wrong!”

I said, “Or maybe it was unfair to expect him to give an accurate forecast when we’re sitting here consciously trying to alter the weather and bend it to our own will.”

This was when it hit him that we had in fact asked the rain to stop by the time we left and here we are preparing to walk out the door and the heavy rain we’d been experiencing all day thus far had stopped short.  I grinned at his mildly stunned expression and finished collecting my things.

We left and drove 10 miles to the grocery store.  We were there for about 45 minutes and then drove the same 10 miles back home.  Including loading bags into the van and then back out of the van and into the house, the total time spent was about 1.5-2 hours.  It didn’t rain the whole time we were gone.  The sun wasn’t out and it looked dark and angry outside, but it didn’t rain.

We got everything in the house and the van parked again and after we were home for about 15 minutes, it started to rain lightly and it continued for most of the rest of the afternoon, but we never got wet.

The kids were downright impressed with our little bit of magic making.  I love when things work out so nicely because as we all know, the more you see your own consciousness at work around you, the easier it is to believe in your own power.

I want these boys to always know their own power and respect it and rejoice in it, as I do.
