Bringing Peace

February 28th, 2011

I was on the telephone at eight o’clock this morning. On the telephone, and on hold, waiting for Michael’s teacher to pick up the other end so I could blast him right out of his chair.

I’d written a pretty forceful email on Friday, but when I sent it to Ash, and asked her opinion, she told me not to send it.  I’m an impulsive person, so I try to get the advice of a trusted, less impulsive person before I jump off any bridges.

Because she’s got to be one of the most level headed and sane people I know ( ♥  her), I took her advice and just let it go for the weekend.

“Mr. Thomas” stepped over the line a little and in a moment of frustrated anger, he embarrassed Michael and made him feel humiliated and stupid.  Then he added insult to injury by committing a thoughtless deed that meant very little to him, but meant a LOT to Michael, so the kid got kicked while he was already down.

You want to see fire shoot from the face of a woman?  Hurt her kid.

I can hear Mike and the boys in the other room talking about normal morning stuff. I can hear voices in the distant background on the other end of the phone line.

I’m waiting.

I don’t know what I’m going to say.  I want to explode, and yet I don’t want to be seen as the crazy, exploding mom.  I want to be heard, and taken seriously.  I don’t want to overreact, and being that I wasn’t there myself, that’s hard to judge.  I know Michael is worried about the “fall out” of the call.  He doesn’t want to be uncomfortable at school.

And then BAM!  I knew what to do.

Right there, holding the phone to my ear and waiting on hold, I closed my eyes and took a deep, conscious breath and relaxed on the exhale.  Then, in my mind I said, “Please help me to bring peace to this situation…”

In the blink of an eye, I realized, I don’t have to be right.  I don’t have to yell.  I don’t have to make him feel bad for making Michael feel bad.  I’d already talked with Michael about how this teacher has 90 students, and by the time his class is there in the afternoon, this guy has clearly been worn thin and is ready to go home.

I don’t have to make this guy feel defensive.  I don’t have to accuse.

What I DO have to do is bring peace to this situation for the highest good of all involved.  And as soon as I’d cleared my head, and asked for help, I suddenly, just knew it would be fine.

And it was.

It was a productive conversation.  I didn’t have to accuse anyone of anything.  As soon as he was on the line, he told me that he spoke out of turn and apologized, saying he intended to speak with Michael as soon as he got there.

Then we were able to discuss the current project which is what seems to be the trigger that’s stressing both of them.  As it turns out, Michael is further along than Mr Thomas thought he was, and most of the stress was unfounded.

Thank you Miss Ash for being my friend and sounding board. Many people say they don’t know what they’d do without a loved one.  I know what I would do if I didn’t have you.  I would talk to no one because most think I’m insane a good portion of the time, and I’d make myself look like a complete asshole a lot more frequently.  You are not the wind beneath my wings, but the gravity that keeps me grounded.  Thank God for you.

Thank you angels or guides or Yeshua or God or all or everything… You all give some kick-ass advice when I’m able to shut up and listen.  Bring peace.  Good one.

It amazes me that such a highly charged subject was so easily brought to a peaceful end, and on a Monday morning. Gives me great hope for this day… This week…

Not that I had any doubts to begin with…

WWLD

February 22nd, 2011

I’ve always seen the bumper sticker and shirts and other paraphernalia that circulate that say WWJD (What Would Jesus Do), ever since the phrase came out years ago.

Of course the phrase appealed to me, nut that I am, but not as much as you might think.  It’s just so… I dunno… cliche’ I guess.  And most of the people with these shirts and stickers and key chains don’t DO what Jesus would do anyway, so why bother asking?

I’ve tried to ask myself, “What is the most enlightened response? Does this uplift or put down?”

Well, I have a new one now.  I can’t seem to get it out of my head.  The phrase floats through my mind, even when I’m not faced with a situation in which to use it, and that has showed me that, you don’t have to wait for a reactive situation to use it.

It’s very peace bringing when you are having a conditioned emotional response, but it’s also uplifting when you’re just going about your day.  I have found that I actually enjoy daily, otherwise mundane, tasks when this phrase pops into my head.

What Would Love Do?

At our core, we ARE love.  We are created by love, made of love, and have been given the divine ability to expand that love.

I’m also a believer in love being not only a feeling and an energy, but also an action.  A verb.  So it was very easy for me to think of my divine, higher self as “Love” and ask what that love would do, in an action.  I see the action as Love too.

So basically, what would the loving, perfect, divine Source in me do in this situation to create and share more Love?  What a beautiful question to pause and ask one’s self in any given moment.

I have found myself loving the laundry as I fold it.  Loving the dishes as I wash them.  Loving the food as I prepare it for my family.

Not start to finish.  I’m not standing there with a dreamy, far off, dopey smile on my face, contentedly folding underwear.  But as I shake the wrinkles out of my shirt, I think, “I love this shirt.  I love it’s texture.  The color is so pretty… etc.”

I’m finding more and more love in every situation.  More and more to appreciate.  More and more to smile about.

Try it.  What would Love do?

My Vibrating Universe, Apparently on the Fritz?

November 4th, 2010

Someone said the funniest thing to me yesterday.  After reading a small portion of my blog, she said that she didn’t believe anyone could actually be THAT happy all the time.  And that everything I write sounds like a sales pitch to something I shouldn’t be selling.

I have been deemed a fraud.

It was kind of a…. “I’ll do it if you’ll do it” thing I did with Ash.  I sort of wonder if she didn’t really think I’d submit myself, and then felt obligated when I did. LOL  But anyway, if you want to read the review I got, you can see it here.

A warning though… if you are sensitive to foul language…. I’d not click the link.  Everything there reads like a vulgarity competition for humor sake.

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *

I’ve never actually had someone tell me that they basically thought I was lying about my life, and/or my feelings about it.  I wasn’t aware that there was some sort of truth contest going on.

I mean, I’m not telling you that I love my life as the premise to sell you whatever I bought that made me feel this way.  I’m not offering to make you as happy as I am as a service for which you must pay me.

As a matter of fact, I come to my keys with the intention of sharing freely, the simple things that I’ve done, and changes in perception that I’ve had, to go from hating my life and myself to being completely in love with it all.  I’ve recently considered coaching for actual money, but that’s just because I already spend so much time answering personal emails and coaching people on a donation basis, I’ve simply considered making my participation in it more intentional and prosperous.

I’m reminded that we cannot see PAST our perspectives.

Those judging me cannot see past their perspectives any more than I can see past my own.  We have to actually step back from our perspective and around to the side for a peek from a different angle if we’re to ever see anything differently than we already do.  That is a conscious action.  Very rarely do we see things differently on accident.

I’m also reminded to turn off my judgments  and try to actually SEE people for who they REALLY are, and not just my preconceived idea of them.  If you go into a situation already believing someone is a certain way, you will only see things to reinforce that belief.  You will never see who someone really is if you’re sure you already know.

On the bright side, I did get some massive traffic that resulted in a few new readers, which is awesome.  And welcome to the new :)

Anyway, it is what it is, and it’s all good.  Someone famous somewhere and some point once said, “No press is bad press,” and if you’re reading this, then you know I believe that everything happens for a reason.  It’s all good.

All is well with my vibrating Universe… “shit ball” included.

Have a fabulous day!!
