Today’s Book:

Getting into the Vortex Guided Meditations CD and User Guide
By Esther and Jerry Hicks

Vortex

At the very beginning of this book, Jerry Hicks appeals to the reader in two ways.

The first way is to ask that, although you may REALLY want to get down to the meditation CD, please read the first section of the book FIRST and then listen to the corresponding meditation.

The second is to ask that, if you’re going to share their work, please do so in its entirety.  In other words, please don’t just upload the meditation CD and give it away.  Give the whole CD AND the users manual with it…. And that’s what I intend to do.

More on how YOU can get this book and meditation CD for free after my review :)

Both the book and the CD  are split into 4 different parts.

* General Well-being
* Financial Abundance
* Physical Well-being
* Relationships

They recommend you read and listen to the sections in the order they’re presented, and so that’s what I did.

I sometimes find Abraham-Hicks books a little hard to read.  Sometimes I think I get lost in the translation.  Not that I’m translating for myself, but Esther translates Abraham, and I have a hard time following her.  It’s only in print that I have this trouble though.  I love her voice and before this CD, I’d watched her on youtube tons.

I wouldn’t recommend this book as someone’s introduction to Abraham only because I think that the printed text is easier to follow after having heard the way Esther speaks.

I DID enjoy the book.  It was exactly what it says.  A user guide for the meditation CD.

The sections are short and they’re presented in a very digestible way.  A  positive, affirmational type statement is made at the top of the page, and then the rest of open book face space is a short expansion on the beginning statement.  And there’s only like 16 statements per section.

Short and digestible.

Once I began listening to my first meditation, I recognized some of the phrases Esther was saying and realized that she was saying the affirmational statements from the book.  And because I’d read the expanded portions before I listened, I DO feel like the words meant more to me than they might have otherwise.

Each section is about exactly what their titles imply.  I do, however, want to make a special note about the relationships section.  This section isn’t just about love.  It’s not just about your mate.  It’s about how you relate to other people and how you relate to yourself.  It’s not to be brushed past or overlooked simply because you’re not seeking a relationship.

Now, the meditations…

It is stated in the book that “Through the hearing of our words in your relaxed state of allowing, you will allow the gentle tuning of your Vibrational frequency to match the frequency of your Source.

This will not be an exercise of effort or trying, but instead an exercise of releasing and allowing…gently allowing yourself to be who-you-really-are.”

I found this to be quite accurate.  For the first 5 minutes of my first meditation I had a hard time following the music with my breath and listening to the words.  I had to stop trying to listen to the words and almost tune them out and only hear the music.  Then I found the rhythm and began to hear the words again.

The second meditation I went through the exact same process.

The third meditation was another similar process only this time, it went faster.  I relaxed faster and was able to release and allow easier.

The fourth meditation was even faster.

Then the next day, when I went back to the first meditation, I found that as soon as I started to hear the music and breathe,  I was immediately in “The Vortex.”

I intend to continue with the daily meditations.  They’re a very pleasant way to get a timed, fifteen minute meditation in each day.

Reality Wishes & Fairytale Dreams

August 31st, 2010

Greetings, my smiling friends!

Today is a very special day for Mike and I.  Today we have been arm in arm in this world together for 12 years.  I still wake up in the morning and wonder what amazing stockpiles of karma I must’ve earned in my last life to be so completely blessed in this one.

It really is a dream life.  A fairytale.  Some perfect work of fiction romanticized by a poet who lived long ago, now manifest in a living reality.  My reality.

Even when I hate him, which is very rarely, I still love him with a force so all consuming as to take my breath.  A force intensified by a thousand when I am loving him.

It’s unreal to me sometimes.  There are days I fear I might wake up.

He makes me want to be better.  To do better.  To live up to him.

There is always a danger when you place someone upon a pedestal, that they may topple off.  But it’s not upon a pedestal that I keep him.  He just IS that fantastic.  There is no one thing that he could ever do that would displace him from my heart.  Never in my entire life has any person loved me so completely, and without condition.

It truly is a beautiful fairytale in which I reside.

All Growed Up with Some Place to Go

August 20th, 2010

We ventured out to our local amusement and water park yesterday with the boys.  We go every summer and they begin looking forward to it on the car ride home the year before.

We were all ready to walk out the door, and I went in my bedroom to do a sweep of the area to make sure I didn’t forget anything.  My eyes scanned over everything, and landed on my tarot cards.  I hadn’t drawn a card in several days and I figured today would be a great day if there ever was one, so I sat down and began to shuffle.

I drew the Tower.

*Sudden, dramatic change, upheaval.   There’s a possibly uncomfortable change on the rise…*

That made me want to worry a little given that we were leaving town for the day.  I decided to let go of the worry by saying a prayer for fun, health, and safety.  Then I let it go and out the door we went.

The amusement park doesn’t open until 1pm.  We always start in the water park because it opens at 11am.  Usually around 2pm we are starving, so we go out to the vehicle where we stretch out with each other and the radio and have a nice picnic lunch.  After lunch, we go through the dry park for a few hours.  Around 5pm, we go back in the water park until 7pm when it closes.  Then it’s back out to the amusement park until it closes at 10pm.  It makes for a busy, exhausting day.

Well….

We were in the water park for about 10 minutes when I realized what my sudden, dramatic change was.  It WAS an upheaval and it WAS uncomfortable.  And it was certainly sudden and dramatic.

For the first time ever, my boys went off to play in the water park by themselves.  They left Mike and I to float around the “Endless River” on tubes alone.  I wanted to cry.  When did my babies grow up?

We didn’t even talk about it before hand.  We got inside and Michael looked at us and said, “Can we go by ourselves?”

Mike and I looked at each other and he said, “Well, it IS completely enclosed.  There ARE 4 or 5 lifeguards at every post, AND only one door out….”

Then he looked at the boys and said, “You are not to leave the water park for any reason and if someone tries to make you leave, you sit down wherever you are and scream your head off… That way everyone will know something isn’t right… Okay?”

There was an immediate round of nods and agreements and then, BAM… my babies grew up right before my eyes.

I’m trying to hold tight to the perspective, “Isn’t is wonderful to watch the growth of these two little people?!  Isn’t it beautiful how they are becoming whoever they’re going to be and I get to influence them and help them to truly know who they are?!”

I will adjust.  I won’t hold them back.  I won’t TRY to control and shape them, but instead through my love and encouragement, I will teach them about their own control, and allow them to take shape.

Still my heart hurts…
