I Need to Train My Dragon

Blessed Greetings!

Today I’m off to take my 10 year old on his first excursion while playing hooky from school. He went this morning as usual, but I intend to pick him up @ 11 and feed him lunch and take him to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3D. He has no idea. I’m so psyched!

He’s been having a hard time at school this year. Fourth grade was very trying for him. He has two different classes he’s in and both are taught by mean old ladies who clearly lost their love of teaching children a decade ago. He’s also not anything like any of the other boys at school so he doesn’t really have any friends… outside of the girls. Tall, blond, good looking, class clown is loved by the girls. But of course, this makes the bullying from the boys worse.

So, today he’s getting a free pass. Thursday is gym day and he hates gym. It’s not that he’s not athletic, but take the above bullies and arm them with weapons sports equipment and then give them all to the 4th gym teacher in 3 years and then try to use your imagination. I’m sure you understand.

Also, the cafeteria has prepared chicken quesadillas for lunch. In a word… vomitortilla.

I’m surprised at how tremulous age 10 has been. He’s a very feeeeling person though, so everything always seems bigger to him. I suppose that’s just a nice way of saying he’s a drama queen. Mike had a mustache when he was 13 and puberty ran me down like a bus when I was 10-11 so while I understand that boys are known for blooming later that girls usually, I have to wonder if my little Michael is experiencing some pre-pubescent growing pains. Heck, he’s even actually having those too. Growing pains.

But today my baby will have a good day. Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time he came through the door in a good mood after school. I just keep pep talking him through it, reminding him that he’s ALMOST reached the end. Summer vacation is SO close! We don’t even have to flip the calendar to see it now.

And ya know what? He’s been on the honor roll every quarter. Even though he hates it. Even though he’s MISERABLE! Even though he only gets YELLED at by the mean old bitches who are his sad excuse for teachers. Still my son comes home with straight As on every report card.

I have the best kids in the world. Smart, kind, logical, funny, honest, authentically wonderful children.

PS. After I mentioned seeing 3s and deciding to plant 3 beans, Ash mentioned me on a list she made and I was #33 on an unnumbered list, then Tuesday night I woke up @ 3:33am, Wednesday I listened to Mike watching a movie in the living room that was singing a SONG about 3… triads and trinities and threes threes threes…lol… THEN I looked over at the clock as it flipped to 3:33pm…. Weird. _giggle_

Here is a very cool little poem I found. I like it very much and have printed it out for my book of light.
The Kitchen Witch’s Creed

In this pot, I stir to the sun
an’ follow the rule of harming none.

Banishment of bane when goin’ widdershins;
an’ with water and salt negativity is cleansed.

Household duties are more than chores.
Magic abounds when mopping floors.

With this broom, I do sweep
to clean my house and safely keep.

Marigold, Basil, Thyme, and Yarrow
my spell is cast for a better tomorrow.

Lemons for joy and apples for health
the pow’r within brings great wealth.

And, in this kitchen, I do pray
To truly walk the Witches’ Way.

~ Today, Monday (3-01-10) @ 12:36pm EST, the Moon will go v/c until 7:31pm this evening ~
I’m off to do some grocery shopping today. I spent yesterday getting household chores and schedules ready for this new month that’s upon us. I LOVE to organize. I usually organize the lists and schedules far better than I carry out the plans I set. This month will be different. I intend a different result and I will begin with different actions.

My first new plan of action is to only cook 2-3 times per week. I will make at LEAST 2 different meals per shot. One cooked meal, and one thrown together with leftovers. For example, cooking a whole roaster chicken and creating 2 chicken meals in a row using all the meat. The first meal being roasted chicken and the second being something making use of the already cooked chicken that can be thrown together with little to no cooking involved.

Today is the day I’d intended to put this plan into action, so while I’m doing very little during the v/c time, I’m going to hit the store with my list and collect the ingredients I’ll need to being said plan later this evening :)

When I was shuffling in preparation of drawing a card for this cycle through Libra, I had in mind specifically what was coming for me on Wednesday morning. When I began typing this post, I realized that I am due in court on Wednesday morning while the beautiful Moon still rests in Libra, the sign of balance and justice! I took it as good sign and decided to ask the cards.

The seven of swords speaks of a shirking of one’s responsibilities. Of deception and theft. Of running away and cowardice.

I found this card a bit disconcerting because I am the plaintiff in this law suit. We are suing our ex-tenants for $3000 for abandoned bills and damages. I found myself wanting clarification, so I decided to draw again.

Victimization. Feeling powerless. Confusion. Not understanding what’s going on.
That is DEFINITELY her. She signed a lease and then in the face of thousands done in damage, in only THREE MONTHS TIME, turns to me incredulously and declares, “None of that is MY fault!”

So hoping for a little more clarity, I decided to draw one more card and just turn this into a 3 card spread. I’m getting the impression that this is going to go easily my way, but nothing wrong with triple checking! *wink*

Yay! This one tells me that so long as I’ve planned and prepared and am ready, it’s in the bag. It can also speak to working together and contributing to a group, and I have to wonder if it’s a peek at who our Judge will be. I know that there’s a judge in the small claims court that is, himself, a landlord. I’ve also heard that he’s not lenient with people who destroy other people’s property.

What a great spread for me. I’m VERY happy with it!

~ My Plan: Monday evening through Wednesday afternoon ~
Well, I plan to cook one large meal and throw together one small one. I plan to pick up my pictures (for court) while I’m out shopping today for the previously mentioned meals. While I’m gone, I intend to charge coins with expansion and abundance and leave them around the places I visit to share and spread the wonderful highness I’m experiencing today!!

Tomorrow I’m sure to be found collecting all my paperwork and organizing myself for my Wednesday date with Justice in Libra :)

The Book of Light

This is what I’ve decided to construct. Not a Book of Shadows. I know that the name of that book is part of the witches tradition, but that is the beauty of being a Solitary and making your own traditions in my humble opinion.

I thought about constructing a Book of Shadows and was giving thought to what I’d want to include and the more I thought about it, the more I thought of things I would include. Then the more things I listed to include, the more the similarity of the nature of those things seemed.

The nature of all of the things I would include in my Book of Shadows are things related to energy and healing and life and creation and joy and love. Those are not things of shadow. Those are things of light.

I also believe that working around some of the seemingly darker aspects of “witchcraft” will help me to reach a broader audience and be more readily accepted if not understood. And it’s not that I’m seeking anyone’s acceptance, but more that I believe that if I can bridge the gap between myself and someone else simply by altering my language, why shouldn’t I?

Besides, I find the idea of a Book of Light so much more appealing.
I know witches are said to/to have kept information regarding their magic in their Book of Shadows, but I see it like this.

My LIFE is my magic! Everything in my life, I have created… manifested. Everything I am interested in and am pursuing is under my spell and part of my magic. And my LIFE and my interests and pursuits center specifically around my home and family and health and Spiritual growth.

Maybe it’s… non-traditional, but I went and got myself a 3 ring binder. If I read something online I want to include in my personal book, I print it, punch it and include it. I’m free to use my trusty highlighter and make notes in every margin to my heart’s content! I even have section separators and folders. It organized so many things for me. I had information floating all over about all kinds of things and now I have a single location for all of it!

This translates over to everyone! You don’t have to be a witch to have your own book. Especially for the homemaker or mother. There’s so much we do and are responsible for. It really is wonderful to have a place to put it and a place to find it later! I even include a journal, calendar and my own personal “Tame the House” cleaning schedule/routine that helps me to conquer the chaos of life with boys!
