RavenousToday’s Book:

Ravenous – A Food Lover’s Journey from Obsession to Freedom
By Dayna Macy

I have a Hay House book on review today!

They sent me this book, for free, in exchange for my publishing a true, and honest review of my thoughts on it.  They insist I tell you that.  And now that the legalities are complete… on we go!

A chronic over eater from childhood, Dayna Macy takes the reader on her journey to crack the code of her food obsessions. She tells stories of memories from days past of finding comfort and acceptance in food, and goes through self analyzation trying to break free from her addiction.

She takes the reader along with her to visit the places where her favorite foods are made in order to gain a more respectful and personal perspective.

She finds her health practices and cements them into her life.

All in all, this was a nice story.  To be perfectly honest, the first half of the book was a little lost on me.  I don’t really care about the making of cheese and the other foods she observes.  She even states at the end of the section that going through that process didn’t do a whole lot for her and her transformation, so I sort of wonder why she included it in the book.  I’m sure others must have enjoyed it.  It was informative.

I was touched by chapter ten which was about visiting the slaughter house, and the six chapters thereafter held me captive.  This was the portion of the book where she REALLY began to transform and grow, and those are always my favorite parts.

It was a good story and worth reading, but it’s not something I need on my shelf.  I will probably pass it along to a friend with my blessings to pass on as they see fit.

In other words ~ I’d Give It!

I’ve decided that I need a rating system of some sort, beyond just telling you how much I love a book, so here’s what I’ve settled on…

Hoard it! ~ I would put this book on my shelf and never let it leave my house.

Lend it! ~ I would lend this book out with my name inside, and insist on a fairly prompt return.

Give it! ~ I would pass this book on with the hopes that the next person to read it gets as much or more from it than I.

The Angel Therapy Handbook

Today’s Book:

The Angel Therapy Handbook
By Doreen Virtue

Greetings blog family~

A happy waning, 3rd quarter to you all.  I have a Hay House book on review today!  They sent me this book, for free, in exchange for my publishing a true, and honest review of my thoughts on it.  They insist I tell you that.  And now that the legalities are complete… on we go!

I sat down in my reading chair under the soft lamp light after dinner, and opened The Angel Therapy Handbook, and that is where I remained for the next two and a half hours.

I have always believed in God, and in some way, angels.  Although I must admit I never really believed them to be heavenly creatures that are basically men with massive bird wings.  I was watching a show on Discovery very recently and it showed an image of how energy flows around a human body.

It was sort of like this one…

And I thought, yeah, I can see how that might be what people saw.  And not having the experience or language even to describe it, they expressed it as “halo” and “wings.”   I can see how something similar to this visual is what has lead to the common day image of angels.

Well, right in the first part of my reading, angels are described as looking more like the above than their more common, winged image.  But it also said that when they appear, they show up however you will recognize them.  I, at this point, was hooked!

As many of you know, it’s been a recent intention of mine to become more familiarly acquainted with Yeshua and any other angels or guides I may have lurking around the ether, so this book couldn’t have come at a better time for me.  Perfect timing, I know… I was shocked too.  It’s almost like magick~

If you’ve ever wanted to be more in touch with you guides, or God, or angels, or your higher self… this is the book.

Ms. Virtue takes time to explain the different ways in which we are all psychic at our core, and how we may go about sharpening our skills.  She has compiled the information from her psychic development courses and her angel therapy courses to make this book into basically a handbook for anyone interested in walking down a more Spiritual path.

I’ve always had a great interest in the idea of archetypes and as it turns out, archangels are perfect for that part of my musings.  I love knowing that Archangel Raphael is the healing energy, and I spoke to him a few times earlier this week, asking him to be with my Hubby who had the flu.

I love the law of attraction.  I love that concept.  Truly.  But more… FAR more than that, I love the feeling that there are guides and angels all around me that are the ones responsible for helping me.  Sure, like attracts like…. but now, I know it’s my angels who really deliver~

Mystic

Today’s Book:

Mainstream Mystic
The True Story about the Struggle to Blend Everyday Life with a Destined Path of Enlightenment

By Patti Zarn

This book was sent to me by Patti Zarn, for free, in exchange for my honest opinion and review.  And what a review it shall be!

This book was LOVELY!  I loved it as soon as I started.

The story of how one woman reconnected with her Spiritual nature and found an undiscovered path unfolding before her.  And how she dealt with her new found beliefs and integrated it into her everyday life.

I felt an immediate bond with Patti as I discovered many similarities between us.  I also experienced a ridiculous amount of synchronicity while reading her story that has lead me to seeking my own spirit guides recently… one of which we also apparently have in common ; )

I would highly recommend this book to anyone with the slightest interest in metaphysics, but most especially to anyone who revels in the small synchronicities in life that make up our day to day connection to God.
