Unintentional Flaws of Intention

Back in October, I’d set an intention with the New Moon to lose fourteen pounds in four weeks.  Here I am five weeks later, and I’ve not only NOT lost the fourteen, but I managed to gain two.

I wasn’t terribly worried about it.  I could see it happening as it was happening and I let it be.  I had a lot going on and each day it seemed like there was always a different reason why I couldn’t go work out.

And I’m not just talking “excuses” I was making to not go.  I had a sick child one week and then the other one was sick the following week.  They weren’t home from school all those days, but they were home for some.

Can’t really go to the gym with a sickie at home.

But anyway, none of that matters.

This morning on Lilypad Paradise, my quote was about will.  It reminded me of when I quit smoking and when I lost 40 pounds a few years ago.  I enjoyed starting my day thinking about how strong my will can be and how powerful I am when I use it.

I went to Curves this morning and worked out hard.  I mean, I really put my focus into it.  I zeroed in on the muscle group I was on, and made each move with purpose.  Today’s the first day I’ve been there this week.

On my way home, I wandered off on a train of thought about how good it felt to work out after having not done it for a couple weeks.  I thought about how good I feel inside my body when I work out regularly.  I thought about how I need to really MAKE this workout a regular part of my morning routine.

“Too bad I couldn’t get a grip and lose those 14 pounds last month….”

As soon as that thought reared it’s ugly head, the realization hit me.  I didn’t lose the weight and I was unable to stick with it and find the time and I also ate like a pig for the entire month…. and it’s because of that intention.

I wasn’t intending growth, I was intending improvement.  But I don’t need to improve.  I am as I am and that’s the way I’m supposed to be.  As soon as I officially intended to lose that weight and “improve” myself, or rather how I saw myself, I think my subconscious took the hit and suddenly I ate everything in sight in a self soothing manner.  Suddenly I was far too over taxed and put upon to find free time to work out.  That fits in with that whole martyrdom thing too.

I think I need to focus my intentions into having a regular morning routine that includes my Lilypad Paradise quote of the day, meditation, and exercise.  That will put my focus more on feeling good and being happy and healthy.  I already meditate and do my quote.  Now to integrate the exercise… Oh great, now I’m thinking about affirmations DURING exercise. Hmmmm…

As a side note, I’m also reminded that creating is downstream while LOSING or getting rid of is very upstream thinking.

Growth.

October New Moon Intentions

Okay, so I sort of missed the boat on this one.  I was on my way to a manifestation and wasn’t quite to the new intention place yet, but I am now, so here it comes.

My official intention is: I want to lose 14 pounds in 4 weeks.

The habits I intend to practice this month are~

  • Work out at Curves every morning Monday through Friday.
  • Continue meditating daily.

I intend to meditate when I get home from working out.  My body is all relaxed and my mind is clear.  It’s a great time of day for me.

I started on 10-11-10 (I’m loving that) so I’m going to overshoot the new moon by a couple days, but hey, timing isn’t everything.  If I went to exactly four weeks, I would land on November 8th, but my official weigh in day every month through the gym is the 11th so I’m going to go with that.

Octobers Lunar Joy Quest~

I know it’s already in motion, but I’m counting it because it is a big deal.  I joined Curves again this month.  I really love working out there and had great success(40 pounds in 7 months) as a member once before.  It seems silly to me that I can’t just get off my ass and go for a walk every day, but that’s just the way it is.  I will not waste my time trying to make myself conform to an ideal that clearly just does NOT work for me.  I need the motivation that going to Curves brings, and I now accept that and am declaring it my October Lunar Joy Quest.

Heck, I’m already happier from going and it’s only been three days!

My Affirmations for this cycle~

My body is self healing and exists in perfect balance.
Losing unneeded weight is super easy for me when I exercise and feel good.
Everything just keeps getting better and better!  I love this life.

The full moon comes on Friday, October 22, 2010 @ 9:37 pm EDT, and I’ll be hosting another Group Abundance Meditation.  I’m thinking it will be at 11:00pm EDT.  Our last gathering boasted quite a group and the vibes were great.

We’ve certainly experienced some increase in our family and I sure hope you have too.  My hubby ended up practically stealing a new tilt-bed.  It won’t be long now before he’s a proud business owner :)  He’s wanted this business for so long.  He’s almost there, and it’s so exciting.

I hope you’ll join us for the Full Moon in Taurus!  Things started in Taurus are stubborn.  They stick and are hard to undo.

September New Moon Intentions

Happy New Moon!

The past few months have been about outward changes, so I’m taking a journey inward this cycle.

My official intention is: I want to find more quiet space in my mind and live each day with more intention.

The habits I intend to practice this month are~

  • Meditate for 15 minutes each morning
  • A Morning Devotional
  • An Evening Devotional

** I’ve never had a regular meditation practice that lasted longer than a week.  Yesterday I was suddenly struck by the undeniable urge to meditate after everyone had left for the day.  I pulled up my meditation timer page and started the 15 minute timer.  Then, I sat.

When the bell sounded to signal the end of my meditation, I knew I’d found my new intention/practice for the new cycle.

** A week ago, I started keeping a journal.  Two of them actually.  I call them; A Morning Devotional and An Evening Devotional.  I know, original…

I decided that I wanted a more intentionally focused day.  I figured it would also help me to remain intentional throughout the day AND… if I’m going to manifest anyway, I might as well put a little effort toward stating what I’d like to see.

** The evening journal is a short recap of the day and a list of things from my day that I appreciated.  I’m finding it rather enjoyable to recount my day mentally and relive the moments I enjoyed the most.

At the end of each entry in each journal, I type out my current affirmations.

I am really enjoying this daily practice.

I’ve been looking back through some of the stuff I’ve written over the past few months and I really love the Joy Quest theme.  I’ve decided I will sync it up with the New Moon also.  There are quite a few things I am wanting to learn/try/get back into, and so I will intentionally move in the direction of SOMETHING each cycle.  It will be my Lunar Joy Quest :)

September’s Lunar Joy Quest~ I am learning to play piano!!

I’m actually leaving for my first lesson in about half an hour, as I write this.  EEeeee!!  I’m REALLY excited!  I’m not sure how often I’ll be going yet or anything else.  I’m going to go and see what I see…. just go with the flow.

Learning to play the piano comes very easy for me.  I will it so, so mote it be ;)

It’s really been life changing for me over the past four months.  Months of purposefully intending small goals into my life and then putting small and minor changes into effect.  Change one thing and all things change.  The Joy Quests, I believe, are a huge part of my recent successes.  Ask for what you want, participate in synchronistic inspired action, and seek joy.  I have been having so much fun lately!  The seeking of the joy is my favorite part!

I hope you’ll consider initiating some small changes in your own life.  If you’re not completely satisfied with your life, then it’s up to you to take control.  And even if taking control seems overwhelming, anybody can make just one small change.  One small change is all you need.
