Mother Earth Day 2010

April 22nd, 2010

Happy happy happy happy happy Mother’s Day my dearest Mother Earth!

Earth day is sort of a special day for me.  I mean, I know, it’s Earth day, but the path I’m on began Earth day 2008.

The first thing I ever did to consciously conserve was back on Earth Day in 2008 when, as suggested on tv, I unplugged everything in my home that wasn’t in use.  This included lamps, cable boxes, toaster, toaster oven, can opener, tv in the family room and basement, etc. I did it for one month on a pretty regular basis.  Sometimes I’d forget, but for the most part, I walked around unplugging things all the time.

I got my electric bill the next month and it had gone down $40!  That’s freaking incredible!  After that, I unplugged even the things I hadn’t before.  I put the microwave, desktop computer, modems, and all televisions on power strips so you needed to flip the power switch before using and I started making a turn through the house every night on my way to bed to check all outlets when I locked the doors.

The next month, an additional $15 was missing from my bill.  I was sold.  Conserving energy was not only good for my environment, but it was also saving me an immediate $55 PER MONTH!

I even had an additional physical benefit that I can’t prove, but that I’m sure of none the less.  I’ve had hormonal issues for years.  Since I had Michael when I was 20 actually.  My menstrual cycle would go anywhere from 24 days to 40 days instead of an average of 28 as it should be.  I panicked multiple times thinking we were pregnant again.  Not fun.

I started unplugging everything in my home, and 3 months later my menstruation normalized and has been perfectly balanced since.  I made no connection until one year later, ON EARTH DAY 2009 when I was talking with someone about unplugging and suddenly made the connection in my head.  I grabbed a calendar and counted backwards and could SEE that on the 3rd month after Earth Day, I was at 28 days and had remained consistent (after TEN YEARS of consistent inconsistency!).

Curious about the possible connection I looked it up and was ASTOUNDED at what I found.  There is SUCH a connection!  Do your own search.  Electricity creates what is called an electromagnetic field, or EMF.  Run a search on your favorite search engine for EMF hormone connection.

And this isn’t just a feminine issue guys!  Men have hormones too!  Menstruation involves progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, and THEN some.  Men have all these hormones too!  We, as watery humans are walking talking hormones.  Electromagnetic fields affect EVERYONE!  Even animals.

I’m off to the store to see a man about a horse…. no wait… to see about getting a lilac tree :)  They are my favorite and I promised the boys that we would plant something large and permanent for our Mother Earth today.  I hope you’re doing something for Her today too.  Every tree and every bottle and every piece of trash counts.  Honor your life, our planet, our Universe, our future generations and make a change for the better and start today!

Book Building

March 13th, 2010

*Next Group Abundance Meditation on Thursday~ 3/18/2010 @ 10:30pm EST*

I am so delighted with the weather we’ve had this week.  We’ve been having highs between 55 and 65!  I was able to take the dogs for long bike rides because it was so warm and the road was dry.  My fur babies could NOT have been happier.

You’d think that after months of walking hit and miss on the treadmill they’d have to work back up to running miles at a time, but this is SO not the case.  We went 4-6 miles each shot.  These dogs never cease to amaze me.

They go the whole first mile at a balls out run and then alternate between trying hard to outrun each other and then just trotting along next to each other, but they never ask to stop.  I have to stop them by clear puddles or clean ditches so they’ll rest a moment and get a drink.  If I don’t MAKE them stop, they’ll just run til they drop.  Silly fur babies.

This amazing weather has me thinking spring in a BIG way!  The spring equinox is one week away!  How wonderful!! More and more I’m bookmarking things online that I want to add to my book of light.  They’re starting to pile up.  With planting time right around the corner, I’m thinking more about my “Earth Magic” section.

I’ve resolved to have a fabulous garden this year and I’m setting out in the pursuit of knowledge.  It was suggested to me that I start small, planting only a few things, and build my knowledge bank on those particulars.  Then add on next season and expand my gardening knowledge from there.  I realized immediately why I never thought to do that before.  It was logical and simple. LOL

SO, here’s my plan!

I know there are loads of witches out there who don’t HAVE their own book.  Many just don’t know what on Earth they’d put in it.  I’m telling you, you can put anything in it!  I, personally, put EVERYTHING in it.  I want to take a more active role in the building of my book.  Having my book together and organized is very important to me and that’s why I’m putting off it’s construction.  I want to take the time to do it right.

Unfortunately that’s the procrastinators motto.  Place your left hand on this pile of unfinished projects… raise your right hand and repeat after me.  I don’t have enough time to do this the proper way so I want to wait until I can take the time to do it right.  Ha!  Now, be honest…. raise your hand if you’ve been to one of our meetings.

I will build my book.

One or two things at a time.

So what if I have 100 things to go in and the list keeps growing.

That’s 100 things that I will learn from at my own pace, in my own time, for my greatest good.

I will not beat myself up for not living up to an unrealistic schedule imposed upon me by only me.

Baby steps are still steps that move me forward.

Do you have to be a witch to have a book?  Good lord no!

I think EVERYONE should have one.  If you value organized time, an organized home, a peaceful spirit, and being “on top of it”, then you need a book.  Call it what you want.  It’s title makes no difference.  I don’t like the dark and secretive sound to “Book of Shadows” so mine is a “Book of Light”.  My original book, which was NEVER as thorough as the one I’m now building, was called a “Control Journal” and I got the idea from being a member of FlyLady.

I’m going to share with you all the things I’m adding to my book.  I hope it inspires you to build your own book.  I average about 3 posts a week in this blog.  It’s been a full month that I’ve been posting as the moon changes houses and I’ve been loving the structure of it.  It’s been helping me to break my weeks down into smaller, bite sized pieces so I may better focus my creative powers into manifesting my life!

I’m going to add a weekly book building reference.  One of my weekly posts will contain some references and resources that I have deemed appropriate for MY book.  I am an Earth Witch, and I don’t print things out lightly.  I respect the life of the trees that was given so I may have paper, and I will not be wasteful.  I beg of you to also be so choosy in your book creation and any other printing you do.

I’ve created an online Book of Light.  This way if I’d like to keep something for informational purposes, I may do so without wasting paper.  Some things, in my opinion, should be in hard copy.  Other things I enjoy, but don’t feel compelled to keep near me.

This Week’s BOL Addition

Integrating Work & Magical Life &   Kitchen Witchery

~ Today, Saturday (3-13-10) @ 7:57am EST, the Moon will v/c until 1:44pm this afternoon ~

~ When She rights her course @ 1:44pm EST, She’ll move into Pisces where She’ll remain, from Saturday afternoon until 8:01pm EST on Monday (3-15-10) ~

My almanac says:Pisces has a focus on dreaming, nostalgia, intuition, and psychic impressions.  A good time for Spiritual or philanthropic activities.”

It’s a great weekend to put your feet up and just relax.  Catch up on your sleep.  Catch up with a friend.  Whatever you decide to do, make it a refreshing experience.

~ Moon Manifestation Tarot Card ~

*The Moon*
This card could represent my fears or illusions I’m succumbing to.  It could alternately mean that I’m being enchanted and my dreams are coming true.  It certainly feels to me more like that second one, but I’m always open to learning about myself.  Sometimes we feel things we can’t even define or don’t even recognize.  Because I’m aware of this, I decided to turn this into s three card spread.

*King of Pentacles*
Ah, the possessor of the Midas Touch.  Turning all I touch to gold. That surely reinforces The Moon representing my enchanted self and charmed life.

*King of Swords*
Wow. Talk about your power house for creation!  This King is filled with integrity and honor.  He’s intelligent and reason filled and logic bound.  He implores me to act in a way befitting him.

~ My Plan: Saturday afternoon through Monday evening ~

A whole weekend specifically dedicated to relaxing and recouping and day dreaming my fantasy future into being!  That sounds like heaven to me.  I will fantasize honorable and integrity filled solutions into existence.

You are Awesome!

January 10th, 2010

No, really. Regardless of what you do for a living or what mistakes you’ve made in your past. The fact that you are sitting in your chair, right now, reading this makes you awesome.

Today is Sunday and being raised Christian, I automatically observe Sunday as the day of Spirit. Not a day of rest really, but a day in which I consciously seek connection to Spirit in the things that I do. Sunday is the day I water and/or feed my plants. I enjoy weed pulling and gardening on Sundays too. There’s just something wonderfully grounding (pun intended) about having your hands in the dirt and encouraging the Spirit around you into growth.

I like to spend Sunday playing with my children. The 2 AND 4 legged varieties. It’s the day of relaxation, enjoyment, love, reflection, a counting of one’s blessings.

Sometimes I find myself completely struck speechless by the wonder that is me. And you. Us! We are amazing! Today is one of those times. In the spirit of our collective AWESOMENESS, I’d like to present you with this wonderful video. Deepak Chopra really has a way of expressing the magnitude of our divinity that I love.

Happy Spirit Day to you and yours! May you find a direct line to the Source of all that is good and be in peace.
