Twelve days to go until spring has sprung!!!

#12~ Dog Hair Bird Nests!

Bandit is part Husky, and as soon as the first signs of spring start to show, he starts to shed like the hairy beast he is. It makes me think of the giant red hair monster on Bugs Bunny. And when he got attacked with scissors, he disappeared. Ceased to exists. Poof… just a big pile of hair is all that’s left.

Well, Bandit isn’t to be brushed in the house. Ever! The piles of hair that come out are unbelievable, so we do it outside. And we brush and brush and brush with one of those close toothed combs that’s FOR getting that under, insulating hair out.

By the time you spend just 3 minutes brushing this dog, because that’s all he stands still for, the front yard looks like it’s filled with dirty, white, cotton candy tumbleweed.

Last spring was our first with Bandit, and after his first, thorough brushing, we noticed that birds kept swooping in and flying off with little bits of hair! Gross, I know, but so awesome at the same time. We help shelter the birds and keep them insulated against the cold and the heat by brushing outside and allowing them to recycle the leftovers.
