Everyday Miracles

July 31st, 2010

As I sat in the long line of traffic waiting to get through the massive area of construction, I watched the traffic light cycle it’s signals to no avail.  Nothing and no one was moving.  It was 92 degrees.  Here, up against Lake Erie, 92 humid degrees is down right torturous.

I have no AC in my van.

I could feel the tension building in me.  The traffic jam, the boys in the backseat that were too hot and not shy about it, the effect of the heat on me, the smell of the thick, sticky, humid cigarette smoke wafting into my van from somewhere among the sea of cars in front of me.

“Why are we SITTING HERE!?!” a voice screamed from inside my head.  At that moment one of my favorite 80s songs came on the radio,  Mike and the Mechanics, All I Need is a Miracle, and I thought, “Ha!  Ain’t THAT the truth!!  I could sure use a miracle right now.”

And then it happened…

Suddenly my entire perspective shifted.  And when I say shifted, I mean it physically felt like someone had picked me up and spun me in a circle.  Like going from looking at the road out in front to suddenly staring at the windshield itself.  A miracle.

I suddenly thought of the first pages in the book A Course in Miracles that tells the reader repeatedly how deserving and entitled they are to miracles, and how miracles are a part of everyday life.

“I am entitled to miracles,” I thought.  “And miracles are a part of everyday life.”

I gave life to healthy, wonderful children.  That’s a few miracles.  I am still head over heels in love with my husband after 12 years.  THAT’S a miracle.  I see synchronicity everywhere, all the time.  That’s a miracle.

“Mom, what are you looking at?” came Michael’s voice from the backseat.

My mind shifted back to my butt in the seat and realizing I was just staring blankly out the windshield in thought, I replied, “Nothing really… I’m just sitting here.”

Then I shifted again and got that weird feeling of being picked up and spun in a circle, and I found myself looking at the exact traffic jam as before, only now it was different.

“Look at those cars!  How completely amazing that someone figured out what metals were in the Earth and someone figured out how to take those metals and shape them into car parts, but not before someone figured out how to make an internal combustion engine.  I mean, what are the chances that would happen?  It DID happen and we all drive around without even considering not only the miracle that we HAVE cars, but all the many many miracles that had to be worked into the plan before the car could ever have happened in the first place!

“Look at those construction vehicles!  They weight TONS.  There sits TONS of steel that they can make move around at will and repave the road upon which I drive my miracle car.

“And the pavement!!  OMG!  How amazing is PAVEMENT!?”

And then I looked to the side and saw right into the car next to me where some woman was just staring, with an irritated look on her face, out of her windshield, clearly caught in the same train of though that had me in it’s grips mere moments before.

“How AMAZING that this woman was born and lived all of her life to come to this moment in time to be the person that I will look at and realize the absolute MIRACLE that she is!  She’s angry and beautiful.

“I don’t need a miracle.  I could probably sit right here in this spot all day and contemplate all the amazing miracles that really ARE a part of my everyday life.  I can’t believe that the depth of the miracles in this life have escaped me until this moment…. Life is miracle.  They are inseparable.

Honk! Came the insistent sound behind me.  I turned my eyes front and saw that the traffic had cleared and I was being urged to take advantage of the open road… and I did.  A Miracle.

No Connecto, No Problemo

July 28th, 2010

Happy Hump Day Everyone!!

I’m doing things a little unconventional today.  As I type this, I have no internet connection and I’m on “Word Pad” on my laptop.  We’ve been having issues with our phone and internet for about a week now, and there’s a man outside right now troubleshooting our problem.
I’m just going to drop a quick line about the book I just finished.  I’m hoping I’ll be able to publish this blog post before noon!

Anyway…

I just finished a wonderful book called The World of Serendipity by Marcus Bach.

If you know someone who is just starting out in working consciously with the Law of Attraction, and who maybe isn’t all that “Spiritual” in nature (Yet. Seems we all get there from here…) then you might consider introducing them to THIS book.

Ah, the Princes of Serendip… wise men who set out on a journey to one thing and ended up reaping countless unexpected rewards along the way.

Recognizing and glorifying synchronicity.

Serendipity: The art of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for.

So, in my mind, serendipity is what happens when you set an intention and see synchronicity that you follow and then end up somewhere wonderful by accident, even though you’d originally set out for somewhere else.

I love when I set out and do exactly what I intend, however I will readily admit that sometimes if the road veers, I enjoy veering with it and following it wherever it is going to lead me.  Sometimes there’s just a deeper knowing in you.

Sometimes things get difficult and you can beat yourself over the head with what you can’t do, or you can allow serendipity to lead you where it’s going to so you can be happier in the end than you had even set out to be.
The phrase that comes to mind is. “Let go and let God”… but we were speaking in less Spiritual terms, weren’t we? LOL

This is a great “Guy” book.

I was just talking to someone recently who was saying that their guy friend is squeamish of “LOA” because it’s not manly.  Of course I know loads of men who won’t eat vegetables because to do so is girly. (*shaking head*) It’s unfortunate what we’ve allowed society to program into us.  They’re programming us right into our own death… but that’s a WHOLE other blog post!

THIS would be a great book for just such a man.  An “unconscious” man could likely relate to Princes who set off on a journey hoping to earn their father’s kingdom upon return.  It’s a very… “manly” angle on life.

The story of the Princes isn’t the entirety of this book.  It’s more like the premise of the book and then used to illustrate points throughout.  The meat of the book is commentary by the author about Serendipitous events and people in history and in his own life.  Sort of a “Look how real this REALLY is” kind of angle.

Wonderful for those new to these concepts.

I hope you’ll grab up a copy of this book and give it a perusal or give it to someone who’s attracting it :)  Take this synchronicity and help to create the serendipity that might change someone’s life!

Weekend Book Love

July 23rd, 2010

Happy Friday!!

If you’re looking for some weekend reading, then boy do I have a book for you!

Clearing for the Millennium by Albert Clayton Gaulden

I was drawn to this book when I picked it up.  It virtually jumped off the shelf at me.  Okay, so it didn’t jump, but it WAS sticking out further than the others and grabbed my eye right away.

The first thing that held me captive was the tag line across the top, “We are all fallen angels.”  I’ve been exploring the “fallen angel” concept lately as I’ve been reading A Course in Miracles.
The forward to the book is written by James Redfield (author of  The Celestine Prophecy ~ Another book I LOVED!!) and the word “Sedona” is on the cover.  Those points sealed the deal and into my bag this book went.

I experienced synchronicity after synchronicity while reading this book.  It was an amazing angle on God, angels, the Universe,  LOA, Spirituality, truth, integrity, authenticity, and psychological dysfunction.

Yes, it’s another Spiritually angled self help book, but yet, it’s not.  It’s a story of His journey, of His path, of His realizations.  It’s a story with the same aim as my telling of my own story.  To help anyone on a similar path find their own way Home.

It’s also brought me to a place where I feel compelled to seek and allow contact with my own higher self/holy spirit/spirit guide.  Pick a name of your own.  There are many titles they carry :)

I hope you’ll grab this book and give it a perusal.  It was riveting and took me only about 3 days to read.  I was regretful putting it down when I had to and am a little sad that as of this morning, I’ve finished it.  Yes, one of those books that you enjoy so much, you wish it’d taken longer to read.  Don’tcha just love that?!

Have a fantastic weekend!!
