Dragon Training 101

What a wonderful movie!

How to Train Your Dragon was truly one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.  I don’t even know exactly what I even want to say about it because I simply want to say EVERYTHING about it!

Firstly, from a conscious living, conscious parenting point of view, WOW!  I could NOT have picked a better movie to take Michael to.  Given his current situation and how he’s been feeling, this movie was PERFECT!

Of course our main character is different than everybody else.  He’s teased and ridiculed because he looks different and acts different and is interested in different things.  Unfortunately for our hero, he starts out the movie trying desperately to fit in and be just like everyone else.

It’s through this deep desire to fit in that our hero takes the action that will forever change the course of his life.  When he’s faced with the gravity of his mistake, he remains true to himself and stays a path of authenticity.

The thing I loved most though was that while the ending is a happy one for sure there’s an unexpected twist that brings the lesson that, sometimes really bad stuff happens…. but there’s a reason for everything…. so don’t miss all the good because you can only focus on the bad.

We really had a wonderful day together.  I’m so glad I decided to do that with him.  We went to an 11:40am showing in the really BIG, new, and fancy theater that’s 40 miles away.  We were the ONLY people in the whole theater.  It was like we got a private showing.  It was really fantastic.

** We’re less than 24 hours to the waxing side of this New Moon!  If you were going to write a New Moon Check or plant some magic beans, it’s not too late.  Of course really, it’s NEVER too late :)  I had such a busy day yesterday that I didn’t get my beans done, so I’m planning a little ritual for this afternoon.

  1. Oh, that sounds like such fun! So glad you had a chance to do something like that with your son.

I understand the difficulties – I’ve got a son with autism and he’s been having a particularly hard time this year as well (he’s in 5th grade). But the end of the year is coming! Yay!
