Greetings Conscious Creators!
I’m having a fab day thus far! I hope you are too. Everyone I know is always happy when Friday rolls around. For a stay-at-home mom, Friday is just another day. I can’t be happy about the weekend or leaving work or having two days off, so I have to be happy about other things…. like: It’s our weekend to have Alan. It’s supposed to be sunny and 70 today! I’m going to visit a friend today. My house is a mess and today, I have time to clean it. The dumb dog hasn’t peed on my marigolds again since the first time when I yelled and then sprayed him with the hose. Three cheers for small victories.
This morning, I wanted to write a quick, very awesome manifestation I created. I found it quite lovely.
Wednesday May 5th (2 days ago) I was looking at the traffic for my blog. I’m not unhappy with the amount of traffic I get, but I wish I could get more QUALITY traffic. Most of my traffic comes from my posts being “Stumbled” or favorited. That means that most of the people who land on my blog, land there by accident and rarely stay for more than the 5 seconds it takes their browser to load. I wish I could increase the amount of traffic I get from people who actually want to read me… or at least have an interest in the general genre for which I mostly write.
* So I put it out there in formal request AKA, a prayer *
God… I’d really love to reach more people with my blog. A more targeted audience. I know we’re in the waning moon, and this time is generally best for decrease, but I’d really appreciate any new, quality blog traffic you send my way. Thank you SO much for your help. Amen.
(Later that day) I commented on a post @ Ash’s blog and noticed that someone linked to me from her. I sat here afterward drinking coffee and chatting with her as I’m likely to be found doing and I told her about the visitor and that I wanted to increase quality traffic on my blog. We talked about Stumble and HER traffic cycles and things of that nature. She suggested that commenting on other people’s blogs is a great way to reach target traffic. You just read blogs like your own, and most people do THAT anyway.
Good idea being that, that is the very thing that lead to the conversation in the first place.
So I went to my Google Reader and organized it all. Got rid of subscriptions I wasn’t really interested in anymore and added some new ones.
Thursday May 6th (yesterday) I got up @ 7am. I wandered out into the kitchen and started my coffee and let the dogs out. Armed with a steaming mug, I opened my laptop and went straight to my Google Reader. I started at the top of the list and began to read these blogs. It only took me about a minute to realize that I was in heaven. I felt so wonderful just sitting here and reading the misadventures of these wonderful people and I felt immediately blessed to be where I was, doing what I was.
I felt so completely joyful in what I was doing, I stopped halfway through to go post about it. It was awesome. I made a few comments and I don’t know if I gained any traffic from them, but I don’t care. Once I started reading, it became only about the reading. About sharing experience and life and laughter. Truly, blog traffic was the farthest thing from my mind. It was a great morning.
(Later that day) Eddie and Michael came rolling through the door off the school bus. Eddie, after his customary, “Hi Mom! How was YOUR day!?” hands me the mail. An envelope from Google? Hmm.. *Opens envelope* ….. “Adwords. A great way to generate targeted traffic for your website!” with a $100 coupon code if I open the account before June. In appreciation for using Adsense. Are you freakin’ kidding me?!
Today! I am officially a paying advertiser on Google. Only I’m not. LOL I have a list of keywords a mile long. Can’t get a whole lot more targeted than that!
I’m excited to see what else is in store for me.
(P.S. I just paused to look out the window and have officially seen the first hummingbird of the year. What’s even better is I saw him out hovering around the perennials in my *Butterfly Garden!!!!* __squeeeals__ Can this day get any better?!?!)
