Walking Tall

Monday morning is always a little celebration for me. The kids go back to school. Mike goes back to work. A calm hush falls over the house. Even the dogs seem to sleep quietly in their spots just a little more and the cats don’t have a lot to say about anything. _sigh_ Monday.

I woke up feeling good today. It may be simply because it’s Monday! Whatever the reason, I’m happy to be happy again. It’s been a long weekend of funk.

It can be so hard to pull yourself out of a yucky mood. Sometimes I feel down and withdrawn and sort of depressed for seemingly no reason at all.

I try to get back up and find something good to focus on, but sometimes I just can’t climb out of the hole. That’s about how I’ve felt since Funky Friday last week. The best I could do was to keep to myself and just not be a bitch to anyone. LOL

I DID get all my veggies transplanted yesterday and spending time in the greenhouse DOES make me feel good. It may not wipe a gray day clear, but there’s a tranquility to it that makes my heart smile. Plus there’s the added bonus of it being 50 and partly cloudy outside, but an easy 85 and balmy in the greenhouse. It’s like being in a sauna. And I’ve been wanting a sauna for years now. I just may start actively using my greenhouse as a sauna. _giggles_ I love when great ideas pop.

I spent most of the weekend with my favorite tunes in my ears. I even told the boys, “I’m not your mother today, go ask your father….” Thank Goddess Mike understands.

Today I am grateful…

that today is Monday!
that I feel happy.
for my husbands support, even if he doesn’t understand.
for my superior health and wellness.
for my freedom to create.
for my friends.
for the light at the end of the tunnel.
for the rain.
for my garden.

okay, there are just too many more to continue. I could be here all day! Have a blessed Monday :)

Waxing Plants

Yeah I know.. odd title. Got your attention though huh :)

I’m having a crappy day thus far and I’ve decided not to anymore. The sun is shining and it’s in the 60s, so I’m heading out to the greenhouse to transplant some veggies.

That brings me to the title. Waxing Plants. We’re in the second quarter of the moon cycle and plants that grow above ground fare better when planted in the waxing moonlight. There’s only 3 more days until the full moon so I want to get outside and get all my goodies planted!

No better way in my opinion to connect to the Universe than by putting one’s hands in the dirt. I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday.

Uncertain as the Weather

Before I jump right into this post, I’ve got something free to give ya! I’ve been wanting, for some time now, to focus upon a different chakra every day. Finding balance in your chakras is very easy and only really requires you to focus upon them and allow them to turn, color, and balance. Having a chakra of the day in my sidebar has helped me very much. It can be hard to find time to do things like this. I’m very happy that I’ve finally found some!

* Uncertain as the Weather *

I was checking the weather forecast this morning because Mike commented on the dark skies and expressed thoughts of impending rain,and I was suddenly struck by how life is like the weather.

There is wet depressing weather and violent storms. There are little storms that are gone just about as soon as they arrive. There is sun to warm your face and make you feel good and sun so bright that it will burn you if you’re not conscious of it. There’s wind that blows things away and there’s wind that can change without a moments notice.

Sometimes you walk outside expecting the sun and find yourself in a torrential downpour. You can’t always predict what the weather will be. Usually you can see it coming, but sometimes it really surprises you. Even people who are older, wiser, and more experienced can sometimes completely miss the boat on forecasting because there are subtle influences at work that may be individual to one specific area alone. Here we have lake Erie. No snow for the viewing area means 3′ of lake effect snow at my house!

It also made me think about how I see life. About how my path and experience has shaped my view of the weather.

I don’t want to focus on the storms and the rain while the sun is out. I’d much rather be basking in the warmth and watching in awe at nature’s growth. I do however enjoy the rain and storms very much for without them, it could not all be so beautiful. I guess if I were to summarize my thoughts on life, I would have to say, the storms always end eventually and overall there’s much more sun than rain.

I just realized how well this fits for a Saturday with the moon in Virgo with the Hanged Man tarot card I chose this morning! When it comes to the weather, it will be what it will be. Don’t be angry at the rain, just take an umbrella.
