Blooming Where I'm Planted!

I woke up in a funk this morning.

I’ve been hitting the ground running every day this week as I’ve been on my Joy Quest.  I’ve been getting up at 7am, which is a whole hour before breakfast time.  It’s been a while since I was up before everyone else in the house.  I tend to sleep in til 8am through the winter because I really don’t like being up in the cold and dark all alone.  In the spring, summer, and fall there is nature to share my coffee with and light to greet me.  That, I like.

So I’ve been planting, planting, planting and cleaning and painting and writing and running.  It’s been a busy week to say the least.  When the alarm went off at 7 this morning, I was not ready to have my feet on the floor.  My body is sore and I’m tired and I just didn’t want to start yet… so I didn’t.

I cuddled into the back of my sweet smelling man and went back to sleep until 8 when Abby covertly eased up onto the bed behind me and curled into the curve behind my knees.  She’s such a baby for not being a pup anymore.

I knew I had to get up and as soon as I sat all the way up, I knew I’d made a mistake.  I numbly walked zombie style to the kitchen where I put the tea kettle on and started to prepare my coffee.  Before I knew what happened I had 2 cats curling around my feet wanting food, 2 dogs at my back wanting to go outside, one kid at the table giving me the list of what he’s NOT eating for breakfast and another kid grumbling about his pants and where he might find a different pair.

I was out of bed for less than 3 minutes and I wanted to scream.

So, I’ve been trying to chill today.  I got everyone out the door and haven’t done much of anything since, but I figure it’s Friday and it’s my last day home alone til Monday so if I’m gunna have a funk and do nothing for a day, today is ideal.

I thought it was very fitting to find a melodramatic Knight of Cups in the tarot this morning.  That’s exactly how I’ve felt all darn day.  Alas, we all need a day to rest.  I’ll take today.
