Morning Magic

March 23rd, 2010

I’m learning that as a kitchen witch, everything is a spell waiting to happen.   Embracing that little witch in me has brought so much more awareness into my life.  I love it.

Here’s a little spell for a charmed day that you make with your morning coffee OR tea.  It’s something most people do anyway.  Why not bring a little awareness and intention to it.

Your morning coffee/tea ritual already contains all the elements you need.

* Water

* Fire (whatever you’re heating the water with… even if it’s electricity)

* Air (steam)

* Earth (your mug! Cups are of the water element, but clay is Earthen. Ceramic is clay.)

All you need to do is be out of your head, into the moment, and focused upon your intention.  Why not brew yourself a cup of GREAT DAY!  It’s all just a matter of intention.

Any magic you speak is best spoken in your own words, from your own heart.  It is always more effective.  However, when something resonates with you, use it.  That’s what’s most important.  You must feel those words.

What do I say?

Greetings to this blessed day
Bringing joy in every way
Magical elements I combine
A happy day, to make it mine.
Stirred clockwise through the hours come
From rising til the setting sun
A joyous, fruitful day for me
With love that I may share with thee.

With fire from the south, I call forth passion, desire, and Spirituality.
(Turns on Stove)
With water from the west, I call forth centeredness, love, and healing.
(Spoken as I set the kettle upon the hot burner)
With earth from the north, I call forth the grounding energies of my Mother that she may keep my feet firm.
(Holding ceramic mug firmly against the counter top)
With air from the east, I call forth the powers of communication that I may be well understood.
(Pulling steam from the warming water with my hands and releasing it into the atmosphere around me)

(Then, with finished product steaming, hot mug held between both hands before face)
God bless this magical brew that it may serve my intentions and allow me to bring forth into the world, the happiest and most joy filled sides of me.  Allow it to alight my path that I may walk with least resistance and always find my way home.
Amen.

It seems long, I know.  But really, it’s not.  I go through the opening portion, then call forth the elements as I prepare the brew.  Once everything is set in motion, I walk away and go open my journal on my laptop.  I list out a 10 count of things I’m grateful for and by the time I’m done, so is my coffee.

I go add my cream and sugar and come back and sit down, and then before I drink, I say my closing prayer.

It changes your day.  For me, coffee used to be about trying to get my eyes open so I could labor through the day.  Now coffee is the key I turn to open the door to a wonderful day.  Why not have a great day!  The only thing that keeps you from it is you.

~ Last night, Monday (3-22-10) @ 9:49pm, the Moon v/c until 2:16am this morning ~

I had a heck of a time sleeping last night.  Weird dreams and waking regularly.  It occurs to me that there is a LOT of “half way” going on right now… half light, half moon…. It seems I’m adding half asleep and half awake to the list.

~ When She righted her course @ 2:16am EST, She moved into Cancer where She’ll remain, from Tuesday morning until 12:39am EST on Thursday morning (3-26-10) ~

My almanac says:Cancer stimulates emotional rapport between people.  Pinpoints needs, supports growth and nurturance.  Tend to domestic concerns.”

Cancer gives us an instinctive need for peace and quiet.  Feelings of belonging and safety is what motivates us under the influence of this sign.  The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer because it IS at home.  It rules the sign. Cancer holds great healing potential.  Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with ourselves and those we love.

The Moon in Cancer loves domestic activities . Especially those that involve awareness of personal needs.  Decorate your home or better, focus on creating flow and good energy in your sacred spaces.  Nurture yourself.

~ Moon Manifestation Tarot Card ~

* Two of Staffs *
All about the personal power.  Going your own way and doing your own thing.  Bringing down the great creative powers from “out there” and allowing them to flow through you to reach your goals and aspirations.

Boy, if that isn’t exactly the point of the little charm up top of this post, I don’t know what is!

~ My Plan: Tuesday through Wednesday bedtime ~

There is a great balancing that’s happening in nature right now.  There is also a great balance that I’m finding within myself.  Having a Moon in Cancer to focus upon myself and my home and being in touch with others emotionally… but then the Two of Staffs.

I think I will focus on my personal power these couple days.  Myself, my security, my home and my creativity.  I will focus upon my emotional connection, not to other people, but to the Universe itself.  I will allow it to flow through me to create my world and I will do so consciously.

After all, we create from our emotions.  That’s where all manifestation begins.  In your emotional connection.  Seems like a wonderful time to focus upon fine tuning it.

Sun in Aries & a Moon Weekend in Gemini

March 20th, 2010

Happy Ostara!!!

AND

Welcome to the house of Aries!

Our sun makes it’s way into the house of Aries today at 1:32pm EST.  All babies born between today and May 20th will have the Aries sun sign.  My birthday is April 5th.  Welcome to my impulsive, stubborn, intelligent, loyal, and loving sign.

~ Today, Saturday (3-20-10) @ 3:41pm EST, the Moon will v/c until 8:28pm this evening ~

Still more Spring cleaning.  Although I can’t think of a better time to finish it off than today.  I think a nicely cleaned home, refreshed by Spring, will do wonders for the atmosphere around here.  There’s nothing negative in the atmosphere, but can we really be TOO peaceful?

~ When She rights her course @ 8:28pm EST, She’ll move into Gemini where She’ll remain, from Saturday evening until 9:49pm EST on Monday (3-22-10) ~

My almanac says: Gemini (The Twins):  Things begun now are easily changed by outside influence.  Time for shortcuts, communications, games & fun.

The Moon in Gemini is a light-hearted, breezy, laid back, and curious, energy but watch out because it can also be fickle and restless.

The Moon in Gemini generally favors  mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at a time.  Multi-tasking twins.
Reading, learning, emails, time with family, errands, games, writing, teaching, making connections.

~ Moon Manifestation Tarot Card ~

* Knight of Staffs *
Funny, when I first turned this card, I thought it was amusing how the Knight of Staffs sort of embodies the energy that is known to those of us bearing the Aries sun sign.  Of course the synchronicity of that made me unsure exactly of what it meant for me this weekend.

Soo.. yep, you guessed it…. 3 card spread it is.  Now here’s the part that made my heart jump.

* Justice *  * Ten of Swords *

This is EXACTLY what’s happening in my life right now.  I was completely stunned speechless by this….

Justice is all about balance.  (amusing to me to turn it on Ostara too..lol)  She’s all about reaping what you sow… cause and effect.

Ten of Swords has the market cornered on martyrdom.  The great melodramatic.  But situationally it can be the bottom.  The part of the barrel where up is the only option and it’s just time to move forward.

~ My Plan: Saturday afternoon through Monday night ~

Two years ago, I witnessed a drunk, verbally abusive man kick a 3 year old boy to the floor.  I rounded on him in such fury that tears streamed down my face and my voice cracked as I advanced on him screaming that he had no right to treat anyone in that manner and that I would personally end his time on this planet should he ever so much as look at a dog cross-eyed again let alone a defenseless child.

This was the point at which my husband had been informed as to what the screaming was all about and came to my rescue as I was about to be punched… yeah, his hand went up…. and it was almost the last thing he ever did.  Long story short, it was someone we know… and it’s this whole tragic tale because the kicked child and his sister are the grandchildren of these people (step-grandchild of the kicker) and they have custody because grandma’s daughter died 6 months earlier in a car accident…. Then like 4 months later, the 1.5 yr old daughter has brain surgery for cancer.

SO! This family has had about all it can take in such a short time.  Nope.  Not yet.  A year and a half after I confront an abusive drunk for treating them that way, drunk abuser commits suicide.  Now, these are people we know and care about, but not people we see often.  Between “the incident” and the suicide, we saw these people, with and without HIM… maybe 4 times total.  That’s in 2 years.  So I don’t know what else went on.

She’d gotten up the nerve to leave him.  Took her grand kids and got an apartment.  Took essentials intending to go back for the rest later and had been gone about a week.  He is found by his mother-in-law, alive but unconscious.  He died in the hospital 36 hours later.  I refuse to discuss how he did it here.

So now he’s gone.  Turns out he has 3 different life insurance policies that he took out, on himself, by himself and in secret.  He took them out 2 years prior to his suicide and one of the stipulations of the policy is that it only pays after the policy has been active for over 2 years if death is ruled suicide.  So… he was planning it for 2 years.  And he planned it so she’d be okay after he was gone because SHE’S the beneficiary on ALL of them.

Well… his family is PISSED!  They’re fighting her for her house because it’s only in his name…. and it’s looking like they’ re gunna win. I don’t know details.  I DO know, however, that we have an empty house for rent.  Hubby is at her house right now talking numbers with her.  We’re gunna cut the rent down to what she can afford right now.  It’ll cover the monthly mortgage and the insurance so it’ll be fine.

Hubby is hoping that when everything is all settled in a few months, she won’t want to move herself and 2 kids again and will just buy the house.  I think that’s a pretty likely outcome.

That’s what I’m up to through Monday night.  I have Spring cleaning to do here and the painting and cleaning to finish up there for Monday.

That’s also my summation of my tarot cards.  I was the passionate Knight of Staffs who jumped in and stood up for and was the catalyst for change.  I think by my acting in the way in which I felt honor bound to act, by speaking out and not turning away as people often do in cases of abuse, I started a snowball effect that began change in their lives.

Justice is the balance.  I’m reaping what was sown when I acted.  I’m being rewarded for being true to myself and God and truth and all that I know to be good.  At whatever risk to me.  I surely hadn’t the briefest thought for my own well-being when I flipped.  All I could see was RED over the injustice.

I felt like the Ten of Swords WAS her.  She’s VERY much a martyr.  Woe is me is her motto.  I will concede that she has lead a very rough life and I am compassionate.  Obviously I am compassionate.  I also understand that she has chosen every path taken.  I pray that she may see that the road only goes one way.  We can’t live life looking back and regretting.  I believe she will get there.  She is obviously a very strong person, even if she doesn’t believe it.

I also felt that the Ten of Swords was representative of her situation.  Being out of her home, and moving with 2 grand kids… The suicide.  The car accident.  The cancer.  It’s so bad, you almost have to laugh.  I mean, honest to GOD, I didn’t ever imagine these things happened like this outside of soap operas!  So, it sure looks like the bottom to me.  I think her moving to our house is not only a sign that my wise Hubby is right and she’ll buy it, but a sign that things are looking up for her.  Her life is going to improve from here.

I feel deeply blessed to know that I acted in a way in which I was true to myself, and it’s turning out so well for everyone involved.

Even the abuser.  I know that he can see it all from where he is and I know he was heart broken over what he’d done when he got there and saw it from his new perspective.

A Thought for Today

March 19th, 2010

You can’t change anything about your life if you never DO anything differently.  You MUST DO.

If you wish your life were different than it currently is, do something.

Is there just one small thing that you think could be better? Do something!

It doesn’t even have to be something specific to the area you want to change.  Just getting off your butt and out into the world to do something that makes you happy is enough.  It’s enough to just do something FUN to enact change in your life.

This morning, I went to a yoga class :)

I’ve done yoga with vhs, dvd, dvr, youtube etc.  I’ve never been to an actual class.  This morning, I made a phone call, found there was a class to begin in an hour, got my stuff together, and WENT!  I was so happy with myself.  I AM so happy with myself.  I did something different.  I loved it!  It was just for ME!  I enacted change.

I just felt so energized this morning after the Group Abundance Meditation last night.  I know I felt a few of you out there!  I hope all the warm abundant energy I sent out to you reaches you in multiples.  Yours reached me!  My yoga class was free :)  Thank you all~

Well, it’s 60 degrees and sunshiny beautiful outside, so I am off for a walk.

I LOVE SPRING!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Ostara tomorrow!

Here’s a snippet from an article by Kim Rogers-Gallagher about Ostara. The complete article entitled, “Celebrating The Eight Seasons” can be found here in my Book of Light.

Happy Spring :)

March  20-23
Ostara/Spring  Equinox

This is one of the seasons that reminds us that we’re mammals  like
our animal brothers and sisters.  We share the joy of the Earth in
spring as we tilt back our heads, sniff the air, and notice that everything  smells new.  We feel the life force stirring beneath our feet.  In  ancient times, this day when light and darkness were equal was called Eostar or  Ostara.  This season of rebirth was the predecessor of the Christian holy  day Easter, which
children now celebrate by decorating eggs.  Back then,  these eggs were eaten to promote prosperity and fertility.  Celebrate  spring by venturing out for a walk and saying good morning to the Earth as she  awakens from her long winter nap.  Decorate your home with fresh spring  flowers, and shake off the winter blues.  Daylight is overtaking darkness,  and life is returning.
